Bureau of Sociological Research

Mission

It is the mission of the Bureau of Sociological Research to provide quality social science research services in support of the goals of the Department of Sociology, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and the State of Nebraska.  The Bureau of Sociological Research is designed to provide direct research services to faculty, oldh2outreach and consulting to state agencies, and support for graduate and undergraduate education on social science research.

Research.  The Bureau supports all aspects of social science research applications.   Bureau staff provide support for research design and implementation and will, as determined in consultation with the client, assume responsibility for data collection, processing, analyses, and presentation.

Outreach.  The Bureau staff provide consulting and related social research services to state agencies and non-profit organizations in the state of Nebraska.  The Bureau fields an annual omnibus survey, the Nebraska Annual Social Indicator Survey (NASIS), that serves the research and evaluation needs of several state agencies.

Education.  The staff of the Bureau are expected to provide training and demonstrations of survey research methods and human subjects protection for undergraduate and graduate classes in Sociology.  Consulting on project design and planning is provided to undergraduate and graduate UNL students as requested.
