Recurring Survey Projects
NASIS
The Nebraska Annual Social Indicators Survey (or NASIS) is an omnibus survey assessing the well-being of adults across the state. This project has been in operation since 1977, and is presently conducted with a mixed-mode methodology.
SHARP
The Student Health and Risk Prevention (SHARP) Surveillance System is a group of three student-focused surveys conducted in schools across the state. The program is coordinated by the Nebraska Department of Education and Department of Health and Human Services, with BOSR facilitating administration within schools.
BRFSS
The Nebraska Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) is an assessment of major health risk factors in Nebraskan residents. This is a phone-based survey that has been administered annually since 1986. Variations of this survey are conducted across all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and three U.S. territories.
ATS
The Nebraska Adult Tobacco Survey/Social Climate Survey (ATS) is an ongoing surveillance tool for the Tobacco Free Nebraska Program. The phone-based survey collects data on tobacco-related behaviors in Nebraskan residents, and the general knowledge of tobacco impacts on health and campaigns to reduce use.
Labor Availability Study
The Labor Availability Study is commissioned by the Department of Labor. It is an annual assessment of laborsheds across the state and has been active since 2013.
Other Data Collections
NebrASKa Voices
NebrASKa Voices is a panel of Nebraska residents recruited from NASIS. This panel identifies a random sample of Nebraskans that expressed interest in participating in future research projects. BOSR invites interested researchers to make use of these individuals for surveys, interviews, focus groups, and more!
Program Evaluation
BOSR offers program evaluation services to determine program impacts. In this respect, BOSR can serve as an outside evaluator for grant-funded research.
Field Work
BOSR helps to conduct multiple field-based projects every year, either through observation of behavior or conducting in-person surveys.
Qualitative Data Collection
BOSR helps researchers conduct qualitative research, both through recruitment strategies and actively conducting interviews and focus groups.
Farmer Research
Several of BOSR's clients survey farmers. These projects are used to help better policymaking to protect and support the large agriculture population in the state.
